One of the original motivations behind my hobby in photography was the documentation of abandoned buildings. This hotel room is located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The Thomas Jefferson Hotel at its pinnacle was one of the most luxurious hotels in the nation. The hotel would close in 1983 and has since sat abandoned. I made four trips into this hotel, with the last coming on July 4th, 2012. This room struck me as a time capsule, representing an era long lost.
